This blog is a great idea! While the discussion topic today was gay marriage it seemed to me that much of the discussion centered on the impact of of religious moral codes on society and especially the way they affect society's view of interpersonal relationships. Most of the great religious teachers of the past like Hillel, Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha taught a way of life emphasizing justice, compassion and love that was designed to unify people. But the religions that grew out of their teachings in many cases seem to create barriers between people with different beliefs or lifestyles. Perhaps that would be a good topic for future discussion.

I enjoyed today's discussion on gay marriage. I feel that this topic will be debated for some time to come. I would enjoy a FOP discussion of "What is a just war?". It seems to be a timely subject and would bring a lively discussion from the group. Nancy

Hey gang, nice to see you have found the blog. I wish I had something profound to add to our discussion, but I am still trying to process it.

I have always had difficulty understanding why people often say something is right or wrong (gay marriage, polygamy, etc.....)just because it "feels" right or wrong. Obviously different people feel differently or we would never have conflicts. It seems to me that nothing we think or do is wrong if it does no harm to others. Does this make sense to anyone? mr g (Bob)
